Many poker variants have a “short deck” or “short pack”. These packs have only a few cards, and are common in some countries. A short deck may also be used in games such as Texas hold ’em. While a short pack can be used in Texas hold ’em, it does not work in other poker styles.

All poker games involve at least one round of betting. Typically, the pot is placed in the center of the table. At the end of the round, all bets are gathered into the pot.
